This article covers how to create a point to point consignment, including adding a description, calculating charges and closing a consignment.
Create a Point to Point Consignment
Consignments are created and managed in the Consignments menu.
To create a new consignment click . This will give you the option to create a Point to Point, Inwards or Outwards consignment. In this case we are creating a Point-to-Point consignment.
You can now enter the consignment details beginning with the Client.
When you click on this field you will be provided with a list of recent Client Partners to select from - you can also start typing their name to refine the options.
Provide a reference number and the date entered. The date will default as today's date but you can change this if required on the calendar.
Next, select the route for the consignment, beginning with the Carrier Partner (and reference if applicable).
Select the origin where the delivery is coming from. Clicking this field will provide you with a list of Origin and Consignee addresses for this partner as well as your warehouse addresses.
If needed, you can also choose to add a new Consignee; which will then appear in your consignees list for that Client Partner, or add an ad-hoc address which can be selected of future consignments across all Client Partners.
Select the destination where the consignment is going to. You will be presented with the same options to select from. You will now see a map of the point-to-point consignment route.
Once you are happy with the details click Create Consignment.
You can now add a description of the goods that are being delivered in this point-to-point consignment.
Because goods do not enter or leave your warehouses in this type of consignment, you only need to provide the quantity, a written description and the weight and volume details.
You do not need Consignly to identify and log the product nor do you need to select picking locations. Batch and expiry details can be added if applicable. The product and weight need to reflect the total for each product line.
Once you have entered all of the details for the point-to-point consignment, click Add Line. Alternatively, you can click Add and Copy to create this product line and copy these details into a new entry, if you have other similar products to add.
The consignment has now been created. At the top you can see that you are in the 'Detail' tab. This includes General information about the consignment including, number, reference and expected arrival.
The Route card shows the route for the consignment with both the map and addresses.
At the side you can see the consignment status which is currently pending.
If this consignment has shipping information or has a container, you can enter the shipping and container information by clicking Edit in the Container / Shipping card.
Metrics details the weight, volume and quantity for this consignment.
The consignment product description is located at the bottom.
Completing the consignment
To calculate freight and handling charges for this consignment view the Charges tab.
Here you can edit the freight incurred, freight to be charged and the activity charges. Consignly will calculate these automatically for you based on the activity rates entered for this Client Partner and your chosen carrier.
To calculate all three, simply click Calculate All. You can also add an ad-hoc charge here for any of these charge types.
The freight margin for this consignment will be displayed and if it falls below the specified threshold then Consignly will warn you by highlighting the freight margin details in red.
Once all of the details for the consignment have been entered, you can change the Status to 'In Progress'. When the consignment arrives, the Status can be changed to Complete.
Closing the consignment
When you are ready to close and raise charges for the consignment, change the status to Closed.
This will present you with a summary of the charges that will be raised. Again, the freight margin is highlighted in red to warn you if it is below the specified threshold for the Client Partner.
Consignly will ask you to choose a transaction date. Use the Quick Action buttons to choose today's date or yesterday's date. If you select Choose a Date you can manually select the date required on the calendar. Then click Close Consignment.
You can now see that the consignment has changed to 'Closed'. This consignment will no longer show in the Consignments list, unless you modify the search to include 'Closed' consignments.
The charges for this consignment will now show in the Client Partner's Transactions list.
