Break types let you decide how different volumes or quantities are charged for.
In Consignly, there are 3 break options:
- None
- Selective Breaks
- Progressive Breaks

Break options
None
Choosing no break options will allow you to set a rate for a particular metric. That metric attracts that particular charge rate regardless of the quantity or volume of the metric being charged for.
Selective breaks
Selective breaks allow you to define a price for all units where the total units fall within the break range. Your Client Partner will pay the same price per unit for the entire charge.
Consider if you have selective breaks set up as follows:
- 1-20 items are charged at $10 per item
- 21-30 items are charged at $8.50 per item
- 31-40 items are charged at $7 per item
- 41+ are charged at $5.50 per item
In the above example, assume you had handled 60 items.
This is in the range of 41+ items; all items will be charged at $5.50.
The charge will be:
- = 60 x $5.50
- = $330
Creating a selective break
To create a selective break, ensure the Break Type is set to selective.
Start defining the breaks. Ensure that you enter the quantity of product you want the rate to apply to if the total quantity falls in that band. Continue adding breaks for each quantity band.
Do this until all breaks have been configured. If you want a break to deal with any remaining product items, leave the Remaining field empty.

Progressive breaks
Progressive breaks allow you to define a price per item for units that fall within a range. In this case, your Client Partner will pay the price per unit in each range their metric rises through.
Consider if you have the progressive breaks set up as follows:
- 1-20 items are charged at $10 per item
- 21-30 items are charged at $8.50 per item
- 31-40 items are charged at $7 per item
- 41+ are charged at $5.50 per item
In the above example, assume you had handled 60 items.
- The first 20 items are charged $10 each
- The next 10 items are charged $8.50 each
- The following 10 items are charged $7 each
- Additional items are charged $5.50 each
The charge will be:
- = 20 x $10, 10 x $8.5, 10 x $7, 20 x $5.50
- = $30 + $85 + $70 + $110
- = $295
Creating a progressive break
To create a progressive break, ensure the Break Type is set to progressive.
Start defining the breaks. Ensure that you enter the quantity of product you want the rate to apply to. Continue adding breaks making sure you set how much of the next quantity of product you want that break to apply to.
Do this until all breaks have been configured. If you want a break to deal with any remaining product items, leave the Remaining field empty.
Make sure that the break configured with an empty remaining field appears at the end of all the breaks, otherwise subsequent breaks may not be evaluated because all remaining product items will be charged in that break.

Note the icons to reorder the break, and note that progressive break #4 has an empty Remaining field in order to capture all of the leftover quantity.
