In a charge, regardless whether the charge is a standard charge, a selective break, or a progressive break, there is an option for Charge Application.
Charge Application supports two options:
- Rate
- Fee
Charge Application Options
Rate
A rate is a per unit charge, and Consignly will take the metric used in the charge and multiply it by the Charge Rate supplied in the charge.
For example, if the rate was 3.80 per pallet and there were 2 pallets being charged, Consignly would resolve a charge of 2 x 3.80.

Fee
A fee is a flat charge regardless of the metric used in the charge. The metric may be evaluated to trigger the charge, but if the charge is resolved using a Fee for the Charge Application, then the amount entered will be what is charged, regardless of the metric.
For example, if the fee was $4 and there were 2 pallets being charged, Consignly would only resolve a fee of 1 x 4.00.

Using different Charge Application with Breaks
You can set different Charge Application options for different breaks within the same charge, in order to build some complex rating scenarios.
For example, charge a per item Rate up to 30 items, then a Fee for any consignments with more than 30 items.
