The Consignments feature in Consignly is where you can find all of your ‘orders’ which have been entered and where (if you are provided sufficient permissions) you can load in your own orders.
To enter a consignment – open the consignments page. At the top of the index is the button. Click this button and select the type of consignment you would like to enter.
- Inwards: Orders going into the warehouse your goods are stored in.
- Outwards: Orders going out of the warehouse to a consignee (customer).
- Point to Point: a movement of goods between two addresses – not stored in the warehouse.
Creating a Consignment (Single)
Begin by entering your details as the client partner.
Specify the expected arrival or dispatch date. This will default to today's date but can be changed using the calendar if needed.
Next, provide a reference number and select your preferred carrier and carrier reference if applicable.
Choose the route for this consignment by selecting the origin and destination addresses.
If needed, you can add an ad-hoc address, which will be available for future consignments.
Shipping information, such as vessel and voyage details, can be entered in the container/shipping card if applicable.
If the consignment involves a container, enter the container information and set the receive and return dates once these events occur.
Optionally, set a container yard and delivery reference.
Click "Create Consignment" when you're satisfied with the details.
For an inwards consignment you will be directed to the “Edit Products’ blade. Search for the first product you would like to add to the consignment.

Enter the quantity and, if necessary, provide a batch number, expiry date, and attributes.
Volume and weight will be calculated automatically based on existing product information, but you can update these fields if needed.
If serial numbers were selected when creating this product type in your products section, add serial numbers in the designated field. Consignly will create serial lines for you.
To add more products, click "Add Product" or use the action menu icon at the end of the row to duplicate a product.
For an outwards consignment you will be directed to the “Add Inventory” modal. Search for the first product in storage that you would like to add to the consignment.

Enter the ‘Quantity Required’ and click ‘Search Inventory’. You can expand the search options by clicking ‘Show Advanced’ and apply additional filters such as ‘Batch’ and ‘Best Before’.
Consignly will select the product based on the Quantity and Stock Rotation method that has been applied (In the Product Settings). You can choose another product by selecting it using the checkbox on the right. Consignly will indicate whether there is sufficient stock available.
To add more inventory, click ‘Add More Inventory’ or click ‘Add Inventory’ to add the current selection to the consignment.
Once you've entered details for all the products, you can then move the consignment to the next status, depending on the consignment type (Outwards, Inwards) and the 3PL provider's preference.
Using Consignment Statuses
For Outwards Consignments: Consider changing the consignment status to "Ready to Pick" to indicate to the 3PL provider that the order is ready to be actioned. The 3PL provider can then pick the products and proceed with dispatch. You can use other statuses to indicate the specific work being performed on the goods by the 3PL provider.

For Inwards Consignments: You may wish to move the consignment into a "Ready to Receive" state, allowing the 3PL provider to receive the goods efficiently.
