Editing Product Settings
Rotation Method
The stock rotation method is used to help Consignly identify a stock preference when suggesting inventory for an outwards consignment.
None
If none is selected, then Consignly will use the stock received date in conjunction with the depletion method to determine inventory to suggest.
Batch
If batch is selected, then Consignly will use the alphabetised batch number in order to suggest stock, with the depletion method and received date as a secondary sort method.
Dates
Consignly can suggest inventory based on a date set on the product as it was received.
Options are:
- Expiry Date
- Packaging Date
- Production Date
- Best Before Date
- Sell By Date
Each of the options above support:
- Oldest first
- Newest first
If the selected date is Oldest first, then the oldest inventory using that date will be recommended.
If the selected date is Newest first, then the newest inventory using that date will be recommended.
Consignly will then use the depletion method and received date as a secondary sort method.
Depletion Method
The stock depletion method determines how Consignly may inventory to pick when transacting stock out of the warehouse. This depletion method is based on the date the inventory was received into the warehouse.
FIFO
The First In First Out depletion method will suggest picking inventory from locations that hold oldest product first, followed by locations with the next oldest product.
Product age is determined by the date and time it was received into the warehouse.
LIFO
The Last In First Out depletion methods will suggest picking inventory from locations that hold the newest product first, followed by locations with the next newest product.
Again, product age is determined by the date and time it was received into the warehouse.
Default attribute usage
Each of the default usage fields configures the client partner to accept that type of field for product on an inwards consignment, and optionally make that field required or optional.
If the field choice is Hidden, then it configures the partner so that this field won't be surfaced up on Consignly's data entry or receive screens.
If the field choice is Optional, then the field will be presented, but does not require data to be entered into Consignly.
If the field choice is Required, then the field will be presented and will be required to contain data before being received into Consignly.
Default substitution settings
Each of the default substitution fields configures the client partner to allow or not allow substitution of a product based on that field.
If the field choice is Not Allowed, then a picker won't be able to substitute the product unless it shares the same value as the allocated product's field.
If the field choice is Allowed, then a picker may substitute the product for a like product that perhaps has a different value as the allocated product's field.
For example, suppose there are 4 of the same product in inventory.
- The first has batch: 2000 and best before: 2023-12-31
- The second has batch: 2000 and best before: 2024-06-30
- The third has batch: 4000 and best before: 2023-12-31
- The fourth has batch: 4000 and best before: 2024-06-30
Suppose a consignment has allocated the first product with batch 2000 and best before 2023-12-31.
If the substitution settings for batch and best before are set to Not Allowed, then the product will be unable to be substituted.
If the substitution settings for batch are Allowed, then the product may be substituted for the second product batch 2000 and best before 2024-06-30.
If the substitution settings for batch are Not Allowed but the substitution settings for best before are set to Allowed, then the product may be substituted for the third product batch 4000 and best before 2023-12-31.
If both settings are Allowed, then product 2, 3, or 4 may be substituted.
These default fields may be overridden on the product directly.

Default critical stock threshold settings
Each of the date fields that can be captured on a product can have a default critical stock threshold applied.
This threshold indicates the number of days before an inventory item's date that the stock is considered critical stock.
For example, consider a product had expiry date captured, and the expiry date was 18 March, 2022.
If the critical stock threshold for the expiry date was set at 30 days, then Consignly would flag the inventory as critical on 16 February, 2022 (30 days before the expiry).
These default fields may be overridden on the product directly.
