Sometimes product that is in your warehouse needs to be placed on hold, so as not to allow it to be committed to an outwards consignment.
Consignly offer 3 types of holds to help achieve this.
- QA Hold
- Return Hold
- General Hold
Placing inventory into one of these hold statuses ensures that the inventory items cannot be used in an outwards consignment until the inventory is released.
Placing inventory on hold
To place inventory on hold that has already been received into the warehouse, start by visiting the inventory screen.
From here, you can place individual product lines or pallets on hold, by tapping the action menu at the end of the inventory item you wish to hold and choosing Hold Product.

Review the Hold Inventory blade that appears and set the quantity of the inventory you wish to hold.
Note that Consignly will only let you hold available inventory.
Lastly, choose the kind of hold you wish to apply to the selected inventory and enter some particulars describing why the inventory is being held.

Holding multiple inventory items at once
Often it might be desirable to hold many inventory items at once. For example, a batch of inventory may need to be held pending the results of quality testing. Or perhaps several pallets of product need to be held aside for a promotion of some type.
From the inventory screen, choose the action menu in the top-right corner of the screen and select Hold Inventory.

The hold inventory blade will slide into view. Ensure you choose the warehouse and client partner that you wish to hold inventory for.
Once you've selected these, the Add Inventory button will become available.
An empty hold inventory screen
To hold multiple inventory items, you can now choose to Add Inventory from the hold screen. Tapping this button will present you with an inventory search screen so that you can find additional inventory to hold.
The inventory search screen provides advanced search options, so you can find all products with a specific batch and add all of them to the hold screen at once.

After selecting the inventory, tap the Add Inventory button, and the inventory items will be added to the hold screen.
Repeat this as many times as you need until you have added all required inventory to the screen. Then you can follow the steps above to put the inventory on hold.
Receiving inventory in a specific hold state
Often organisation may wish to receive inventory into Consignly in an already held state, in order to ensure that it doesn't get committed to an outwards consignment between the time it was received and the time someone puts it on hold.
Products can be configured for a Client Partner to be received into one of the hold states automatically. To do this, visit the Partner Product configuration, and set the Receive Hold Kind field to the hold type you wish to automatically apply on receive.
As product is received into the warehouse, this hold type will be automatically applied to the product.
