Inwards and Outwards consignments both have Products added to them.
For inwards consignments, products represent the items that are expected to come into your warehouse.
For outwards consignments, products represent the inventory from your warehouse that you intend to dispatch to the Consignee.
Adding products to an inwards consignment differs slightly from adding inventory to an outwards consignment.
Point to Point consignments do not deal with Products from your warehouse.
Inwards consignments
After creating an inwards consignment, you'll be presented with the Edit Products card which allows you to define the products you're expecting on your consignment. Alternatively, choose the Edit Products button in the shoulder Products card.
The Edit Products card
Enter information describing what you're expecting to come into the warehouse.
Quantity
Specify the quantity of product you are bringing into the Warehouse.
After selecting the product, the Volume and Weight will automatically calculate based on how the Product is configured for the Client Partner.
Product
Choose the product by selecting the drop down and optionally filtering for the product name.
Batch and additional date fields
The batch and date fields (such as expiry, best before, etc) may be visible depending on the Client Partner's product settings.
The batch and date fields may be optional, or may be required for a particular product, depending on the Product's settings.
Volume and Weight
The volume and weight fields are automatically calculated for the line based on the Product's configuration. Volume and Weight can be over-typed. If the volume and weight are different from the calculated amount, Consignly will automatically work out the per-unit volume and weight information, so that outwards consignments sourced from this product will have the appropriate volume and weight calculated based on what was received, not what was defined on the product.
Product Attributes
You may choose to add some attributes to this product line. Attributes are recorded on the inwards order, and help distinguish like product that may be received into the warehouse. Alternative product qualities (such as colour) may be added as attributes.
To add an attribute, select Add Attribute and either select from an existing attribute or choose New Attribute... to create a new one.
The action menu
Clicking the action menu on a product line allows you to perform other tasks on the line such as:
- Copy Product
- This duplicates the product line but allows you to change any details.
- Remove Product
- This is only available on non-received product line.
Receiving product
When it is time, product can be received into the warehouse.
Outwards consignments
After creating an outwards consignment, you'll be presented with a dialog to Add Inventory to your consignment. Alternatively, choose the Add Inventory button in the shoulder of the Products card.
This dialog supports a number of filters that help you find inventory in your warehouse. Filters will automatically adjust the Add Inventory screen as you use them.
- Search for the product to add to the consignment and select it.
- Enter the quantity or serial numbers you are looking for
- Enter a batch and/or expiry date
- Optionally enter an attribute that you want to search for
Upon searching the warehouse, Consignly will suggest which product to choose based on the Stock Rotation and Depletion Method set up in the Client Partner.
An example of the Add Inventory dialog in Consignly
If there is not enough product at the first location, Consignly will pick product at different locations based on the Stock Rotation Method until the quantity has been reached.
If there is not enough stock to satisfy the quantity requested, Consignly will select all stock and present a message explaining that there is not enough product.

Add Selected Product
Press the Add Selected button to add the selected product in the entered quantities to your outwards consignment.
The action menu
Clicking the action menu on a product line allows you to perform other tasks on the line such as:
- Viewing the transactions applied to this product (holds, picks, dispatches etc);
- Viewing the Partner Product;
- Releasing holds; and
- Removing the product
Releasing holds
When you add inventory to an outwards consignment, Consignly puts a hold on the product so that it cannot be used in another consignment. This prevents inventory being over-committed.
If inventory is being picked, but there is a decision made to not pick all of the requested inventory, then the holds placed on that inventory can be released, returning the unpicked portion of the held stock and making it available for other consignments.
To release held product, use the action menu at the end of the consignment line and choose Release Held Product.
Picking product
When it is time, product can be picked from the warehouse.
